First grade learned about Lewis and Clark and their expedition to make a map of our country. We tried our hand at map making, and drew maps of our classroom!

BINGO!!
Third grade worked very hard today to complete their morning work. As a fun way to finish the day, we had some multiplication competition. From flash card relay to multiplication bingo. Hard work is paying off for these students.

Mountain Home Christian Academy will be in session, Monday, Jan. 13.

The MHCA Internship program is in full swing!!!
Today, students enrolled in the Baxter Health White Coat program received their white coats and stethoscopes, during the Baxter Health Welcome Ceremony. Students and families were all invited in to tour the simulation lab, to get an up-close look at the opportunities students will be exposed to during the course of the semester.
White Coat participants are Grace Currier, Jason McQuitty and Emma Ehlinger (not pictured). We wish them luck as they embark on their healthcare fields of study!!

A favorite book in the fifth grade curriculum is C.S. Lewis', "The Horse and His Boy".

🎗️Reminder🎗️ Trap forms for those wanting to shoot trap this year must be turned in to Mr. Schmidt, Mrs. Marten, or the office by Monday January 13. If you need a copy of the form, it can be found at https://drive.google.com/open?id=1aE8QWixNGP4Aqz3KlYS7JQZiq5YtF1W2

Reminder, we would like you to complete this short satisfaction survey reflecting your student's time in PK3 or PK4 at MHCA. Your submissions will be anonymous, so please share candidly.

If you are new to MHCA this semester, please do not complete the form. Thank you!

Thank you to all who were able to attend our tech-safety event last night. I hope you found it helpful and encouraging. Protecting our families is one of our top priorities and we are so grateful for your participation! We refuse to bury our heads in the sand! Here's a couple images from that event.

Mountain Home Christian Academy will be closed Friday, January 10th, due to the weather forecast. This day will not need to be made up, as it was designated as a scheduled snow day. We are announcing early to assist families in making necessary plans. Stay safe and warm!

The epic (parent group) meeting scheduled for today at noon at MHCA has been canceled. The next meeting is set for Feb. 12th at noon.

Fifth grade has a tradition of writing birthday blessings on post-it notes for the birthday kid. Somehow that tradition has morphed to include posting these notes ON the birthday kid!

First Grade scholars were SO focused during their directed drawing time. We love using this time to practice following directions (in a fun way 😉), and our art skills.
Here are some of the cutest polar bears I've ever seen! 🐻❄️🥰

Just to answer a few questions we've had about our parent event tonight. This event is written specifically for parents/guardians/grandparents. They have recommended that students not attend the actual event unless you are utilizing the childcare service. Also, if you plan to eat, arrive between 5:30 and 5:45 so that you will have enough time to eat in the lobby before the presentation begins. Thanks! See you tonight at Real Life Church, program begins at 6:00pm.

Last chance to register for tonight's free event for parents! Join us at Real Life Church for a presentation from Protect Young Eyes sponsored by Peglar Real Estate at 6:00pm. If you were unable to preorder a Chick-Fil-A sandwich, they will be available for $8 while supplies last. See you there!

We are excited to welcome Mr. Moore to Mountain Home Christian Academy as our new 6th-8th grade teacher! Mr. Moore recently completed his teaching degree in K-8 and special education K-12. He also has valuable experience working as a para in remediation while pursuing his degree. In addition to teaching, Mr. Moore serves as pastor of First Baptist Church in Mountain Pleasant, Arkansas, and has been in the ministry since 2005. He and his wife, Angela, are blessed with three children and operate a thriving commercial greenhouse. We are so blessed to have him join the MHCA family!
