Dear Parents,
We are seeing a "rash" of rashes lately! Although I am not authorized as a nurse to make any diagnosis, it does check many of the boxes for "fifth's disease" or "slapped cheek disease." The rash on the cheeks resembles a "slapped cheek"- hence the "slapped cheek" reference. It can also appear on the arms, legs and trunk. Sun exposure, heat and exercise can trigger it and cause the rash to become itchy.
Usually, by the time the rash appears, the contagious period is over. The symptoms, which occur 7-10 days before the rash appears, are mild and usually go unnoticed- sore throat, cough, runny nose, perhaps a slight fever. The rash is blotchy and itchy and can be uncomfortable.
Again, I am not diagnosing anything, just making you aware of the situation. For definitive diagnosis, you should always consult with your family physician.
Thank you!
Mrs. C

On Thursday, April 10th, as part of the MHCA Internship program, Cheyanne Dewey was invited by Baxter County & Circuit Clerk Canda Reese to visit the Arkansas State Capitol in Little Rock, to witness the state legislative court. Cheyanne was allowed to watch a committee meeting while in attendance and was introduced before the legislative session as a guest of State Representative Stetson Painter. In addition to this honor, Cheyanne had the opportunity to network with Garland County & Circuit Clerk Kristie Womble-Hughes, Baxter County Judge Kevin Litty, Marion County Judge Jason Stumph, and Arkansas State Representatives Jason Nazarenko and Stetson Painter.
We would like to thank all of the Arkansas public officials who provided Cheyanne with this wonderful opportunity to learn more about the legislative and judicial branches of the great state of Arkansas!
Mountain Home Christian Academy is very proud of Cheyanne and the manner in which she has represented the school in her attendance at the Capitol.
